Be sure to ask your child about this week’s science lab.

The class discussed Scientific Method and learned that one aspect of the Scientific Method is that when an experiment goes wrong or if you want to “see what happens”, one variable can be changed to alter the outcome. The students designed paper airplanes. Following intricate, step by step directions the students were instructed to make exact copies of each other’s airplanes. The airplanes were flown and measured for distance and accuracy. To test if the outcomes would be altered by changing the variable, the students modified the airplanes by adding paperclips or cutting part of the paper differently. This was repeated several times to observe the different outcomes.

See if your child would like to demonstrate this experiment for you at home.
